By the start of the school year, 8 school shelters in Kyiv region will be overhauled. The head of the RMA demands that all schools in the region switch to full-time or mixed education, otherwise communities face "sanctions.

By the beginning of the new school year, 8 shelters will be overhauled, and by the end of 2024, it is planned to complete the overhaul of 12 more shelters. There should be no schools in Kyiv region that work entirely remotely. This was emphasized by the head of the Kyiv RMA Ruslan Kravchenko and warned of "sanctions" against the community if children do not start full offline education on September 2 due to the lack of or unpreparedness of shelters, UNN reports.

"There are 24 days left before the start of the new school year. And it is exactly 24 days left for the communities of the Kyiv region to prepare their educational institutions for teaching children in an offline format. This is what I discussed today with the heads of districts and territorial communities during a meeting on the preparation of educational institutions for the new 2024/2025 school year. Among the key issues is the completion of the construction of new and overhaul of existing shelters in educational institutions. Some communities have questions about the pace of construction of shelters for schools and kindergartens. This primarily concerns Nemishayiv, Vasylkiv, Kalynivka and Boyarka territorial communities," said Kravchenko.

According to the head of the RMA, 8 shelters will be overhauled by the beginning of the new school year in Boryspil, Brovary, Bila Tserkva, Pirniv, and Byshiv. And by the end of 2024, it is planned to complete the overhaul of 12 more shelters: Boryspilska TS - 1, Hirska TS - 2, Zolochivska TS - 1, Kalytianska TS - 2, Ivankivska TS - 1, Poliska TS (reconstruction) - 1, Bohuslavska TS - 1, Feodosievska TS - 1, Brovarska TS - 1, Boyarska TS - 1.

"In preparation of educational institutions for the new school year, repairs have begun and are ongoing in the shelters of 107 educational institutions, including 25 major repairs. The communities promise that all current repairs in the shelters will be completed by the beginning of the school year.

I set a clear requirement for the heads of districts and communities: if children do not start offline education from September 2 due to the lack of shelters or their unpreparedness, we will withdraw the allocated subvention and redistribute it to help those communities that are interested in effective and fast implementation of projects," Kravchenko emphasized.

He noted that in the 2023/2024 school year, the network of general secondary education institutions amounted to 627 schools. Of these, almost 97% were full-time and mixed.

"The top priority for the 2024/2025 academic year is to organize full-time and mixed mode education for 100% of schools. The time for adjustment ended long ago - autumn is coming in three weeks. There should be no schools in the region that work completely remotely!" - Kravchenko summarized.
