The NATO Secretary General confirmed the US commitment to the principles of collective defense. Washington is proving its readiness to defend allies through participation in joint exercises.

He said this during a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, answering a question regarding the US readiness to defend Norway in the event of an attack, UNN reports.

The question was raised against the backdrop of discussions in Europe regarding the future role of the US in the NATO security system and concerns over whether Washington would remain a reliable ally in the event of potential aggression against Alliance countries.
"The answer is very simple - yes. The United States remains fully committed to NATO. We see this every day across the Alliance - through the presence of American troops in Europe, American leadership in NATO, and the US contribution to our collective defense,"
According to him, true commitment is measured not by statements but by concrete actions, and Washington continues to confirm its obligations in practice.
"The US demonstrates its commitment to NATO every day. American military personnel serve alongside allies from the Black Sea to the High North. Right now, American and allied forces are participating in the Baltops exercises in the Baltic Sea, as well as in NATO's largest air exercise this year, Ramstein Flag, involving modern American F-35 fighters,"
Rutte also recalled the large-scale military exercise Sword 26, which took place this year in eight NATO countries in Northern Europe and was designed to demonstrate the US ability to rapidly reinforce and defend Alliance territory.
"At the beginning of the year, more than four thousand American service members took part in exercises in Norway and Finland. I personally visited these maneuvers and saw firsthand the unwavering US commitment to our collective defense. Therefore, the short answer to your question is yes,"
