President Zelenskyy signs a law that improves social protection rights for military and police officers, including leave after injury, disability determination, maternity leave, death compensation, and prevention of gender discrimination.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed Law No. 10313 on ensuring the rights of military personnel and police officers to social protection. The document also abolishes the status of "limited suitability", from now on there are only two categories "fit" and "unfit" for military service. UNN writes about this with a link to the draft law card on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

Details

According to the status of the document, today, April 2, it was returned with the President's signature.

The Verkhovna Rada emphasizes that the purpose of the law is to improve the mechanisms for ensuring certain rights of servicemen, in particular, the right to information, medical care, leave, determination of disability, and legal regulation of other issues related to the exercise of the rights of servicemen and military officials during military service.

The law provides for leaves of absence after injury and treatment that can last up to 12 months, including abroad, without the need to undergo a military medical examination every four months.

Also, according to the law, men of conscription age who received a "limitedly fit" conclusion during the VLC must undergo a new medical examination.

The law defines only two states: "fit" and "unfit" for military service. The repeated medical commission must determine which category a person should be assigned to if he or she was previously considered "limitedly fit.

The law also provides for maternity leave for military personnel.

The law also establishes a monetary payment of UAH 15 million to the family of a defender in the event of his death while performing his military service.

The law provides that military chaplains cannot be persons belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church.

In addition, the law establishes rules to prevent violations related to gender discrimination or sexual harassment.
