Russia uses the Zaporizhzhia NPP for nuclear blackmail and information manipulation - Energoatom

The Russian Federation continues to use the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as a tool of nuclear blackmail, as well as a platform for information manipulation, attempting to create an illusion of legitimate management of a Ukrainian nuclear facility. This is reported by UNN citing a statement from Energoatom.

The agency refuted the Russian Federation's reports about Ukraine's alleged involvement in the death of one of the representatives of the ZNPP occupation administration.

This person was never the legitimate chief engineer of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The only legitimate chief engineer of the plant is Denys Martynenko, and the only legitimate operator of the Zaporizhzhia NPP remains JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom"

The agency added that in February 2024, the Russians removed the last competent Energoatom employees from work, including licensed specialists who ensured the safe operation of the nuclear facility.

All employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP who refused to sign the pseudo-contracts imposed by the occupiers with Rosatom had their passes to the plant blocked. Before the occupation, about 11,000 highly qualified Ukrainian nuclear workers worked at the Zaporizhzhia NPP

At the same time, Rosatom, lacking a sufficient number of trained specialists, sent workers to the occupied ZNPP without proper education, experience working at nuclear facilities, and the necessary professional competencies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine rejected Russia's accusations of the Ukrainian side's alleged involvement in the death of a person as a result of a drone strike near the occupied ZNPP.
