Szijjarto came to Russia again and met with Lavrov: what they will talk about
Kyiv • UNN
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto paid another visit to Moscow during the war. He said that the conflict has no military solution and called for negotiations with Russia.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto did not come to Russia for the first time during the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. He noted that Hungary is on the side of peace. This is reported by UNN with reference to Szijjarto's Facebook post.
"The last thousand days have finally proved that the war in Ukraine has no solution on the battlefield, so we should look for a solution at the negotiating table," Szijjarto said.
According to him, the severance of diplomatic relations makes it impossible to resolve through negotiations, and therefore end the war.
"We support dialogue, because this is the only way to achieve the success of a peacekeeping mission," the Hungarian Foreign Minister added.
Not the first visit to Russia
Szijjarto has already visited Moscow since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. His visits regularly attract criticism. He explains this by striving for dialogue and resolving energy issues, since Hungary is largely dependent on Russian energy carriers. However, such steps are often perceived as a demonstration of a pro-Russian position that runs counter to the overall EU policy.
Recall
Szijjarto criticized the United States for allowing Ukraine to strike targets in Russia with American long-range missiles.
