Kyiv • UNN
Kyiv authorities are considering renaming a street in honor of fallen pilot Andriy Pilshchikov. To do so, a proposal must be submitted with justification and the consent of relatives.
One of the streets in Kyiv's Solomyansky district may be renamed in honor of the fallen military pilot Andriy "Dzhus" Pilshchikov. This is stated in the response of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko to the relevant petition, UNN reports .
Details
The author of the petition proposed to rename Zelenohirska Street in honor of the deceased pilot, as it comes from the name of the Russian city of the same name.
The city authorities generally supported the idea of renaming the street, but pointed out that the origin of the street's name has not been established and there is no official opinion on whether it belongs to Russian imperial symbols. This means that the decision will not be determined by the law on decommunization.
Now, to rename the street, one must submit a proposal with justification, information about Andriy Pilshchikov, and written consent of his relatives.
Addendum
Captain Andriy Pilshchikov, a MiG-29 fighter pilot, has flown hundreds of combat missions since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. He was promoted to the rank of Major (posthumously) and received the Order for Courage, Second Class, posthumously.
