The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada announced the completion of consultations on a bill to ban the UOC (MP). According to him, the document will allow “to scrape Russia away from any churches or religious organizations” in Ukraine.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk said in an interview with the We Are Ukraine channel that the parliament may consider final amendments to the bill banning the UOC (MP) in Ukraine in the coming days, UNN reports .

Details

“Just yesterday around two in the morning we completed all the consultations and this morning the committee reviewed them and adopted the revised version. And it's very good that we had time to bring it to a certain level of perfection, because there are a lot of legal amendments that we managed to implement to make this project work. The worst thing that society expects is to quickly adopt an imperfect law that will not work,” said Stefanchuk.

Stefanchuk noted that he, legal services and a large number of MPs worked on the draft law together with the committee.

According to Stefanchuk, the amended draft law to be considered in the parliament will be of better quality and more MPs will be able to support it.

“This bill will make it possible to really scrape Russia away from any churches or religious organizations that exist in Ukraine,” Stefanchuk believes.
