State budget expenditures on defense exceeded UAH 1.5 trillion in 11 months

In January-November 2023, the state budget of Ukraine spent UAH 1559.4 billion on security and defense, which is 59.2% of total expenditures. The defense sector remains a top budget priority.
In January-November 2023, the expenditures of the general fund of the state budget for the security and defense sector amounted to UAH 1559.4 billion, or 59.2% of all general fund expenditures. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
Details
Security and defense remains an absolute priority and the largest item of state budget expenditures. Thus, for the first 11 months of this year, the expenditures of the general fund of the state budget for the security and defense sector amounted to UAH 1559.4 billion or 59.2% of the total amount of expenditures of the general fund of the state budget
It is noted that UAH 168.2 billion was allocated in November. The funds were allocated for:
- financial support for military personnel, privates and officers, and police officers;
- purchase of military/special equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, personal protective equipment (helmets, body armor and other special equipment), fuel and lubricants, food;
- medical care;
- and other types of expenses to support the activities of the relevant bodies and formations.

The Ministry reminded that the Government finances the defense and security sector expenditures exclusively through its own tax revenues and military bonds.
Therefore, it is extremely important to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine by paying taxes in good faith and buying military bonds
Recall
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the State Budget for 2024 with revenues of UAH 1.768 trillion and expenditures of UAH 3.35 trillion. The budget forecasts GDP growth of 4.6% and inflation of 9.7%.
According to the document, the main item of expenditure is defense.
