Details
This decision once again confirms the Kremlin's intention to leave the residents of the Transnistrian region without electricity and heat in the dead of winter. Russia is using energy as a political weapon and turning the residents of Transnistria into hostages. The government condemns such repressive tactics and emphasizes that it does not recognize any alleged debts that have been refuted by an international audit
The prime minister added that Moldova will cope with any difficulties that may arise due to the “Kremlin's decision.
“Moldova has diversified its sources of gas supply to reduce the dependence of the Right Bank. (...) We will continue to ensure gas supplies from other sources and protect vulnerable consumers. In addition, the government will carefully examine legal options, including recourse to international arbitration, to protect national interests and demand compensation for the Kremlin's decisions that cause economic damage and jeopardize the security of citizens,” Dorin Recean concluded.
Recall
Earlier, UNN wrote that Gazprom would stop supplying gas to Moldova from January 1, 2025, due to non-payment of debts. This could lead to an energy crisis in the country and force Moldova to buy electricity at higher prices.
