Resident of Cherkasy region throws grenade into the yard of a military man's mother

The man was served a notice of suspicion of gross violation of public order with the use of an explosive device. The court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention for 60 days, the suspect faces up to 7 years in prison.

A resident of a village in Cherkasy district  threw a grenade into the adjacent territory of the house of a serviceman's mother, causing an explosion. He was notified of suspicion and sent to custody for 60 days. This was reported by the press service of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports. 

According to the investigation, the man drove a car to a house belonging to the serviceman's mother with the aim of asserting himself and damaging someone else's property, acting intentionally, realizing the public danger of his act and wishing for socially dangerous consequences, for hooliganism, with the aim of discrediting the servicemen, grossly violating public order on the grounds of clear disrespect for society, accompanying his actions with particular audacity, which caused the victims to disturb the peace and fear, realizing the hooligan intent, carrying a grenade, knowing for certain that the said grenade belongs to the category of explosive devices, intentionally threw it into the adjacent territory of the household, which resulted in an explosion

The man was served a notice of suspicion of gross violation of public order on the grounds of manifest disrespect for society, accompanied by particular audacity, committed with the use of an object prepared in advance to inflict bodily harm (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Sanction  of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.

The court imposed on him a pre-trial restraint  in the form of detention for 60 days.

During the searches of the suspect's house and the car he was using that day, police officers found and seized three more items that looked like grenades.

A pre-trial investigation was initiated on the grounds of a criminal offense stipulated by Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
