An emergency meeting of the regional defense council was convened in Zakarpattia after a deputy threw a grenade into the session hall, injuring 26 people.

An urgent meeting of the regional defense council has been convened in Zakarpattia to make urgent operational decisions after an incident involving the explosion of grenades by a deputy at a session of a village council, the head of the Zakarpattia Regional Defense Council, Viktor Mykyta, said on Friday, UNN reports.

In the Keretska community, a local deputy threw live grenades into the session hall during the session. (...) An urgent meeting of the Regional Defense Council has been convened to make urgent operational decisions,

Mykyta wrote in Telegram.

The head of the DMA reported that "26 deputies and employees of the village council were injured in the explosion."

"All the victims were immediately taken to healthcare facilities where they are receiving professional medical care. The Health Department of the DMA was instructed to organize support for the treatment of the victims of the explosion, provide all necessary medical supplies, and organize work with the families of the wounded," he said.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated, and the circumstances of the crime are being investigated, the head of the DIA added.

In Zakarpattia, during a session meeting, one of the deputies of the village council exploded grenades. Grenade explosion by a deputy in Zakarpattia injures 26 people.

Investigators classified the incident under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code. In addition, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine was registering the incident and would investigate it under Part 1 of Article 258 (Terrorist Act) of the Criminal Code, which is under the jurisdiction of the SBU.
