The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law allowing military personnel who have deserted for the first time to voluntarily return to service. They will be restored all payments and social guarantees.

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted draft law No. 12095 in the second reading and in general, according to which conscripts who first left military units or deserted can voluntarily return to service. This was reported by UNN with reference to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak. 

The Rada adopted in general #12095 on voluntary return to service for those who left military units without permission or deserted for the first time. For a total of 253 votes

According to the document, during martial law, servicemen who first arbitrarily left military units or places of service or deserted and voluntarily arrived at the place of service and expressed their readiness to continue military service, military service and the contract are extended.

Payments of cash and food, clothing, and other types of support, benefits, and social guarantees resume.

Initiated criminal proceedings for criminal offenses under Articles 407 and 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against servicemen who first arbitrarily left military units or places of service or deserted and voluntarily arrived and expressed their readiness to continue military service are not grounds for refusing to extend the military service of such servicemen and the validity of their contract.
