Russian dictator Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in the Kremlin and expressed support for his re-nomination for office. This was reported by "Meduza," according to UNN.

During the conversation, Putin stated that he counts on the support of Kadyrov by the residents of the region and noted the changes that have taken place in Chechnya in recent years.
"I hope that the residents of the republic will support you; much has been done under your leadership, it (Chechnya - ed.) has changed radically in recent years,"
September elections and prior agreements
Kadyrov previously stated that he would participate in the elections only if supported by the president. According to media reports, the issue of his new term was discussed in the presidential administration as early as autumn, but the final decision had not been publicly announced until now.
The election for the head of Chechnya is scheduled for September. Kadyrov has headed the region since 2007.
