Prosecutor General Kostin reacts to Europol's decision to create a group to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine

Europol has set up an OSINT task force to help investigate war crimes in Ukraine, and Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin recognized this as an important step in their cooperation.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin welcomes the decision of Europol to create an OSINT task force to investigate war crimes committed in Ukraine. Kostin wrote about this in the social network X, reports UNN.
This event marks another important milestone in our long-standing cooperation, as Europol became a member of the Joint Investigation Team following our meeting with Europol's Executive Director, Ms. Catherine De Bolle
The Prosecutor General noted that Europol's analytical support "is a huge contribution to the network of comprehensive accountability for Russia's international crimes of Russia."
Context
Europol has created a new Operational Working Group to assist in ongoing investigations of major international crimes. to assist in the ongoing investigations of major international crimes committed in Ukraine after the invasion of the country by Russian armed forces in February 2022.
The working group aims to help identify suspects and their involvement in war crimes, crimes against crimes against humanity or genocide committed in Ukraine by collecting and analyzing of open source intelligence (OSINT).

So far, 14 countries have agreed to appoint special OSINT units to the working group to support priority requests from Ukraine, other countries and the International Criminal Court.
The group can also seek support and cooperation from non-members of the from non-members of the Group, EU agencies, non-governmental organizations or private companies.
Member states: Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom, Norway, Spain, United Kingdom, United States of America.
