Kazakhstan will start manufacturing Turkish UAVs in 2024, becoming the first foreign country to launch production of Turkish drones.

Production of Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) Anka in Kazakhstan will begin in 2024. Kazakhstan will become the first foreign country to launch the production of Turkish drones. This was reported by The Jamestown Foundation , UNN informs. 

Details 

Astana and Ankara reached an agreement on joint production of drones in May 2022. Then Kazakhstan Engineering and Turkish Aerospace Industries signed a memorandum of understanding on military-technical cooperation. 

It is noted that Kazakhstan will be the first foreign country to establish local production of Turkish combat drones. A representative of Turkish Aerospace Industries said that the company's goal is "to transfer experience and technology so that Kazakhstan can produce unmanned aerial vehicles on its own in the future." 

According to The Jamestown Foundation, the Kremlin's allies in the region have begun to reconsider their military relations with Russia, opening the door for Turkey to expand its presence in the region. 

Kazakhstan is not the only country in the region to launch the production of foreign combat drones. In May 2022, Tajikistan began production of Iranian Ababil-2 drones.

Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar said that construction work at Baykar's local subsidiary, Avia Ventures, registered in Kyiv, is progressing according to plan. The plant is scheduled to open in 2025.
