The SBU detained a deputy of the Chyhyryn City Council from the banned OPFL while trying to illegally cross the border with Slovakia. He is charged with justifying Russian war crimes and spreading hostile propaganda.
A deputy of the Chyhyryn City Council from the banned OPFL party was detained near the border with Slovakia while trying to illegally cross the border of Ukraine. This was stated by the SBU office in Cherkasy region, UNN reports.

It is noted that in March of this year, the SBU notified the official of suspicion for justifying Russian war crimes and denying armed aggression against Ukraine.
While under nightly house arrest, he decided to flee abroad.
The suspect was detained on an unsuccessful attempt to cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border. Currently, the court has imposed on him an enhanced measure of restraint - round-the-clock house arrest with the wearing of electronic monitoring devices

According to the investigation, the defendant, being an ideological supporter of racism, has publicly supported the Kremlin's policy since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Law enforcement officials say that man spread hostile narratives about the socio-political situation in our country. He shared videos, reels and messages of open Russian propaganda and hostile ISIS in his correspondence.
It has also been established that he proactively contacted Volodymyr Oliynyk, a former MP from the banned Party of Regions, who is hiding from justice in Russia
It is noted that in messages to the former Party of Regions member, he sent disinformation about the Security and Defense Forces in the frontline regions, thus discrediting the Ukrainian military.
