Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukrainians have won 397 court cases against Russia for damages, with 91 judgments handed down in the first three months of 2024, and on April 2, 2024, The Hague will open a Register of Damages for Ukraine to accept applications from citizens affected by the Russian invasion.

he majority of these decisions are aimed at recovering compensation in favor of citizens (292 decisions) and businesses (105 decisions). In the current year of 2024, at least 487 cases against Russia are being considered, in which 310 cases are brought by citizens and 177 by businesses.

The actual implementation of these decisions is currently impossible, as there is simply no appropriate mechanism. However, as of April 2, 2024, the Register of Damages for Ukraine will be opened in The Hague.
