One American evacuated from a liner with a hantavirus outbreak has tested positive

One of the 17 evacuated Americans has been confirmed to have hantavirus, although there are currently no symptoms. In total, three people have died from the outbreak on the vessel.

One of the American passengers of the cruise ship MV Hondius, evacuated from the Canary Islands, has tested positive for hantavirus. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.

According to American medical officials, the infection was confirmed in one of the 17 U.S. citizens evacuated from the liner. Currently, he is asymptomatic.
At the same time, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu reported that one of the five French passengers developed symptoms of the virus during the flight home. All passengers on the flight have been isolated for further testing.
Passengers are being transported to quarantine centers
The American flight is scheduled to arrive in Nebraska, where passengers will be sent to a federal quarantine center at the University of Nebraska.

Earlier, Spanish authorities, the WHO, and the cruise company Oceanwide Expeditions stated that no symptoms of hantavirus had been detected among the more than 140 people on board the liner.
According to the AP, three people have died since the start of the outbreak, and at least five others became infected with hantavirus after previously leaving the vessel.
