An investigation into a deputy who organized a scheme to illegally send conscripts abroad has been completed in Ternopil region. The suspect forged documents, posing as volunteers.

Investigators in Ternopil region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the organizer of an illegal scheme to smuggle persons subject to mobilization across the state border of Ukraine. A deputy of the village council managed to smuggle 74 persons liable for military service abroad under the guise of volunteers. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine, according to UNN.

During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers found that the suspect was a deputy of one of the village councils. He was later mobilized and served in a military unit in Ternopil. The man organized illegal activities there.

Having gained access to official documents, the suspect entered false information into letters of justification for volunteers to travel abroad to import humanitarian aid for the military. Instead of the real names of the volunteer drivers, he entered the data of the evaders into the documents,

Then, based on fake letters of justification, such persons were included in the automated information system and were allowed to leave Ukraine without hindrance, but did not return. In this way, between July 2022 and January 2023, he helped 74 men liable for military service cross the border.

The police investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organization of illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine committed against several persons). The accused faces imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

Currently, the indictment with the materials of the criminal proceedings has been sent to court.
