Not just SMS and mobile internet – "white lists" will not work in Moscow on May 9

In Moscow, mobile internet and SMS will be disabled on May 9 to "ensure security." Home internet and Wi-Fi will operate in normal mode.

In the Russian capital, mobile internet will be switched off during the Victory Day celebrations on May 9, including websites that are supposed to be available via a "white list." This was reported by UNN with reference to Russian "media."

In addition, SMS messaging will not be functional. The reason for the restrictions is to "ensure the security of the holiday events on May 9."
At the same time, home internet and Wi-Fi will operate without restrictions, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development assured.

On May 7-8, no shutdown of mobile internet or communication is planned in the Russian capital, the agency added. However, "operational restrictions are possible in the event of direct security threats," the Russian ministry noted.

At least 15 Russian regions have cancelled parades on the occasion of May 9.
UNN also reported that the Russian government approved a large-scale plan to "combat the destructive behavior of youth" until 2030.
