According to the newspaper, Israel has been waging a war against the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip for more than a year, during which Netanyahu received a delay to start a hearing with him in court. But last Thursday, judges ruled that he should start testifying.
Netanyahu, who is accused of bribery, fraud and abuse of trust, must testify three times a week – despite the war in Gaza and possible new threats related to large-scale destabilization in the Middle East region, the newspaper notes.
Before the war, Netanyahu's legal problems divided Israelis and shocked Israeli politics. The Netanyahu government's attempt last year to limit the power of the judiciary has further polarized Israelis.
