MPs propose to ban adoption for those convicted of war propaganda and treason

The Verkhovna Rada is planning to consider a bill that would prohibit people convicted of war propaganda, high treason, and those who have been brought to administrative responsibility for domestic violence from adopting children.

In the coming days, the Verkhovna Rada plans to consider in the first reading a bill to ban the possibility  of adoption by persons convicted of high treason, support for war, and those who have been brought to administrative responsibility for domestic violence. This was reported by UNN with reference to the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada meeting and draft law No. 10298.

According to the draft law "On  Amendments to Article 212 of the Family Code of Ukraine regarding the definition of persons who cannot be adoptive parents," persons who wer

  • brought to administrative responsibility for domestic violence and gender-based violence;
  •  convicted of war propaganda and collaboration (Article 436 of the CCU);
  • convicted of high treason (Article 111 of the Criminal Code).

Recall

Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych said that a completely new algorithm is being developedto make the adoption process less bureaucratic. The corruption component is planned to be overcome by digitalization.
