The Lithuanian Department of State Security will assess 761 foreigners for threats to national security and ties to the aggressor
state. The results of the assessment will influence the decision of the Migration Service.
The Department of
of State Protection (VSD) of Lithuania will check 761 foreigners according to the criteria of
"threat to national security" and "support for the actions of the aggressor state".
This was reported by UNN with reference to the news network Delfi.
The VSD received information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs about 761 people who have been requested to be assessed on the grounds provided for by law in order to determine the level of threat they pose to national security interests. The conclusions of the VSD will be transferred to the Department of Migration in the manner prescribed by law
It is noted that earlier
the Lithuanian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that persons on this list would be checked on the grounds of
"threat to national security" and "support for the actions
of the aggressor state". It is noted that after receiving the conclusions of the VSD, further
decisions will be made by the Migration Service.
As mentioned by
Regionu Naujienos, last week, Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite
appealed to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėdas to revoke the citizenship of
of Russian ballerina Ilze Liepa. Questions about Liepa's citizenship arose
after the ballerina's interview appeared, in which she did not hide her sympathies for Vladimir Putin,
and calls the war in Ukraine a special operation, openly despises the Western world and
values. On a similar basis, in September, a decision was made to
to revoke the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania granted to
ice dancer Margarita Drobiazko.
