Marvel has unveiled the cast for the new “Avengers”: it will include stars from the MCU, “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four”

Marvel Studios has announced the cast for the new film "Avengers: Doomsday", which will be released on May 1, 2026. It will feature actors of heroes from the "Marvel" universe, heroes from the "X-Men" universe from Fox, and stars of "Fantastic Four: First Steps" side by side.

A total of 26 names were announced. In particular, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU not as Iron Man, but as the villain Doctor Doom - writes UNN with reference to the Hollywood Reporter.

Marvel Studios first announced "Avengers: Doomsday" at Comic-Con in San Diego in July. It was there that it was first heard that Downey would return to the MCU after leaving the role of Iron Man in Endgame. This move reunited the actor with Marvel directors "Russo Bros.", who also left the MCU after Endgame.

Recently, "Marvel" released a full list of actors who will star in the new film in a live broadcast that lasted 5 hours. It showed a shot of a chair with the star's name on the back. Approximately every twelve minutes, music from the next actor's film would play, and the camera would move to a new chair and name.

The broadcast ended with a shot of Robert Downey Jr. in a suit and tie, who, to the music of Alan Silvestri, threw a "shhh" gesture towards the camera.

The announced cast includes:

Chris Hemsworth (Thor),

Tom Hiddleston (Loki),

Anthony Mackie (Captain America),

Paul Rudd (Ant-Man),

Letitia Wright (Black Panther),

Simu Liu (Shang-Chi),

Danny Ramirez (Falcon) and Winston Duke (M'Baku).

Also featured were Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (Agent USA), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) and Lewis Pullman (a character then known as Bob).

The cast also includes the performers of "X-Men":

Patrick Stewart (Professor X),

Ian McKellen (Magneto),

James Marsden (Cyclops) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique).

They started the modern era of superhero films with the 2000s film "X-Men."

In addition, Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) from X2: X-Men United and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who starred in "X-Men: The Last Stand" for 20th "Century Fox" and had a cameo in The Marvels), also got chairs on the soundstage live. They will be joined by Channing Tatum after his debut in "Deadpool and Wolverine."

Members of the "Fantastic Four" are also in the cast, including Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (Human Torch). 

Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played Namor in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," was the first real casting surprise.

There were questions about his return to Marvel after he was accused of sexual harassment in June 2023. However, he dismissed these allegations as "false and completely unfounded."
