Kyiv will not spend budget funds on New Year's locations, but it is possible to arrange a Christmas tree on St. Sophia Square at the expense of patrons, KCSA said on Wednesday, UNN reports.

"The city will not spend budget funds on organizing and arranging New Year's locations. There are no mass celebrations in the capital, such as fairs, food courts and attractions on the main squares. However, in order not to leave Kyiv residents, especially children, without a festive mood, it is possible to arrange a Christmas tree on St. Sophia Square at the expense of patrons, as in previous years," KCSA said.
As noted, in particular, GLOBAL-DECOR LLC approached the city with proposals to arrange the Christmas tree and decor, which it already has at its disposal. In addition, they are ready to take over the installation and maintenance of the main Christmas tree, all resources and financial support, KCSA noted.
Referring to the legislation, the KCSA indicated that no mass events will be organized in Kyiv this year for the New Year holidays. "In the context of war, the city has other priority areas of funding from the city budget, which are focused, in particular, on supporting the Defenders, veterans and internally displaced persons," the statement said.
At the same time, the capital's patrons, as indicated, initiate the creation of a Christmas atmosphere.
"In particular, they propose to set up a Christmas tree on St. Sophia Square, which will be possible if the decision is approved by the Kyiv City Defense Council," KCSA said.
As of today, a New Year's design project for the location has been developed. "It provides for the installation of an artificial Christmas tree with thematic New Year's decor. All the work on the New Year's location arrangement should be done at the expense of patrons," KCSA emphasized.
