The decision to install the main Christmas tree in Kyiv will be made in late November. If approved, it will traditionally be located on St. Sophia Square. This was reported by Victoria Mukha, a member of the Kyiv City Council, chairman of the Standing Committee on Culture, Tourism and Public Communications, on one of the Ukrainian TV channels, UNN reports.
"Will the Christmas tree be set up this year? This decision will be made by the Kyiv Defense Council at the end of November, taking into account the law on martial law, the security situation and recommendations of the relevant authorities. If this decision is made, the traditional place for setting up the Christmas tree is St. Sophia Square," said Mukha.
She noted that, just like last year and the year before, no budget funds will be spent on setting up the Christmas tree.
In addition, according to her, Kyiv does not hold mass events, such as New Year's and Christmas celebrations under martial law.
Addendum
Last year, the main Christmas tree was opened on December 6 on St. Sophia Square.
It was decorated with heart-shaped ornaments in blue and gold. The tree itself was also decorated with white specks.
