In Kyiv, a man was sentenced to 8 years in prison for setting fire to 10 vehicles and damaging 3 vehicles of military personnel. The crimes were committed from September 2022 to August 2023 out of hostility to the military.

A man who burned 10 "military" cars and damaged three more in Kyiv last year was sentenced to 8 years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office supported the public prosecution and found the man guilty of destroying the cars by arson (Article 194(2), Article 15(2), Article 194(2) of the Criminal Code). He was sentenced to 8 years in prison

- the OPP said in a statement.

Reportedly, from September 2022 to August 2023, a man set fire to 10 vehicles used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine or bearing the symbols of armed groups in the territory of the Forest area in the capital. To do this, he used improvised incendiary devices with a timer.

The man tried to set 3 more cars on fire, but failed. Also, cars that were parked nearby were reportedly damaged.

The man decided which cars to set fire to himself while riding a bicycle. He acted on his own initiative, motivated by his hatred for the military and anyone who defends Ukraine or helps the army

- said the Prosecutor General's Office.

The man did not work anywhere, lived with his parents and spent a lot of time on the Internet.

He was detained during his last attempt to put incendiary mixture on the car's wheel. He was carrying another homemade device to set the car on fire.

The man is currently in custody.
