Japan has allocated $14.7 million to NATO's PURL initiative for the procurement of non-lethal equipment. The funding will cover Ukraine's priority needs.

Japan has joined NATO's "Priority Ukraine Requirements List" (PURL) initiative and allocated $14.7 million to it. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, according to UNN.
Details
According to the report, Japan will provide $14,658,000, or approximately 2.2 billion yen, as part of the supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year. The funding will apply to an assistance package that covers exclusively non-lethal equipment for Ukraine.
The specific list of equipment is still to be coordinated with NATO. The Japanese Foreign Ministry noted that this refers to support similar to that previously provided through the Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) Trust Fund for Ukraine.
Cooperation with NATO is strengthening
Tokyo emphasized that they will continue to support Ukraine to achieve a just and lasting peace, and also intend to strengthen cooperation with NATO.
The PURL initiative stipulates that NATO member states and partner countries provide funds for the procurement of equipment through the Alliance, with its subsequent transfer to Ukraine in accordance with identified priority needs.
