Iran rejected a proposal for equal distribution of control over the Strait of Hormuz, jeopardizing hopes that Tehran and Washington would quickly resume negotiations to end the war. The Wall Street Journal reports, informs UNN.

It is noted that Oman proposed a temporary plan to establish equal control lanes, but Tehran demanded that it take on the lion's share of the waterway, which is critically important for the flow of global oil supplies.
The incoming shipping route must be entirely under Iran's control, while part of the outgoing route may remain under Oman's control. If they accept the proposal, we will move to the next stage
At the same time, an unnamed American source told the publication that Tehran is exceeding its authority by making unreasonable demands, as "the strait is an international waterway, and Iran cannot control or restrict transit through it."
