A two-week ceasefire plan includes allowing both Iran and Oman to charge fees from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf, AP reported on Wednesday, citing a regional official, writes UNN.

The official said Iran would use the collected funds for reconstruction. It is currently unclear what Oman will use its funds for.

The strait is in the territorial waters of both Oman and Iran. The world considered this passage an international waterway and had never paid fees before.

The official, who was directly involved in the negotiations, spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.
