As reported by the Ministry of External Affairs of India (MEA), the attack occurred when the vessel, according to reports, was passing through Russia's territorial waters in the Black Sea.
On Monday, the MEA stated:
"Today, the Ambassador of Ukraine to India, His Excellency Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk, was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs in connection with the attack on the commercial vessel MV OMORFI, which led to the tragic death of an Indian citizen.
The Ministry expressed serious concern over this incident and strongly condemned such attacks on commercial shipping, emphasizing their negative impact on the safety of maritime navigation, freedom of navigation, and international trade."
The MEA stated that it asked Ambassador Polishchuk to convey to the Ukrainian authorities India's "serious concern" regarding attacks on commercial vessels, emphasizing that such actions are unacceptable and must be stopped.
