In Rivne region, a man was sentenced to life imprisonment for a double murder committed in the presence of children

The court sentenced a 43-year-old man to a life term for the murder of his sister and her partner. The crime took place in front of children; the perpetrator will pay 3 million UAH in damages.

A court in the Rivne region has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of the intentional murder of two people. Three young children were in the house at the time the crime was committed. Additionally, the convict was ordered to pay 3 million UAH in moral damages. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.
The prosecution proved in court the guilt of a Rivne region resident in the intentional murder of two people. The court sentenced the man to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay 3 million UAH in moral damages to the mother of the deceased,
The tragedy occurred in November last year in the village of Hlushytsia, Sarny district.
That day, the 29-year-old man came to help his sister with household chores. Later, a man with whom the woman was in a relationship arrived at the house.
Later, during a gathering involving alcohol, a conflict arose between the men, and the accused stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife.
The woman tried to flee the house, but the man caught up with her on the road and stabbed her in the back. The 29-year-old victim and his 24-year-old sister died at the scene.
At the time of the tragedy, three young children were in the house. A five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl hid from the danger; the youngest child was not yet one year old.
The 43-year-old man was detained, notified of suspicion under Paragraph 1, Part 2, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and taken into custody.
The court agreed with the prosecution's position, found the man guilty, and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
During the trial, the accused admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. He could not explain the reasons for his actions, citing severe alcohol intoxication.
