In Kyiv, during a conflict, a man shot an acquaintance in the thigh with a weapon; he was detained, the Kyiv Police Department reported on Friday, writes UNN.

As stated, the police received a report of a shooting on Buchanska Street. An investigative and operational group and medics arrived at the scene, who hospitalized a 39-year-old local resident with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

"Law enforcement officers established that a 56-year-old local resident was involved in the crime. The assailant met an acquaintance on the street, and a conflict arose between them during the conversation. The woman's husband and father came to her aid, but the assailant pulled a pistol from his jacket pocket and shot at one of the men, and then fired another shot into the acquaintance's thigh and fled the scene," the police said.

Law enforcement officers found and detained the suspect in less than half an hour.

He was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism committed with the use of weapons. He faces up to 7 years in prison for the crime.
