Important to agree on the "small print" - Norwegian Foreign Minister on negotiations with Russia
Kyiv • UNN
Norway calls for clear agreements with Russia, taking into account the experience of previous negotiations. It is important to pay attention to details and be realistic.

Detailed and clear agreements are crucial when negotiating with Russia, while Norway's experience in communicating with the Russian Federation allows for a better understanding of the need to pay attention to every detail in the agreements. This was stated by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on Wednesday, reports UNN correspondent.
Details
"We know them quite well. We know how they negotiate, and it is extremely important to agree on the "fine print" and details before anyone goes to celebrate the agreements," the Norwegian minister said.
"I think it was very clearly demonstrated yesterday in Riyadh that what seemed like an agreement was not such an agreement, because then a whole list of new demands came from Moscow. So let's welcome the fact that talks are underway, but let's be extremely realistic and extremely strategic in how we approach them, and I don't need to give this advice to Ukraine, because Ukraine knows this. But we are very happy to share this understanding with other people involved in these negotiations, based on our experience of peace negotiations in general and as neighbors of Russia," he said.
The Norwegian Foreign Minister also confirmed that the country remains on the side of Ukraine and supports it in all aspects of negotiations, especially on issues of sovereignty and Ukraine's right to determine its international relations.
