How to properly handle mines and explosives: Ministry of Internal Affairs announces mine safety tips

On Friday, April 4, the world celebrates the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. In Ukraine, due to Russian aggression, about 23% of the total area is potentially dangerous. UNN tells about how to properly handle explosive objects with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Details

The agency reminded Ukrainians of the most common explosive objects and how they look. We are talking about hand grenades, mortar, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, fragments of cluster munitions, anti-tank grenades for hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, etc. Very often, especially during the war, explosive objects are disguised as ordinary objects – books, backpacks, etc. They are also placed in abandoned buildings, forests and reservoirs, on roadsides and playgrounds, etc.

Ukrainians are advised not to visit places where troops have been based for a long time – whether Ukrainian or Russian. If a projectile or mine is noticed, or a warning marking in the form of a red and white ribbon, you should not approach it. Touching dangerous objects is also prohibited: in case of danger, you should call 101 or 102.

Addition

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, canine units of the State Emergency Service have been involved in relevant works more than 800 times. During this time, 73 people were rescued, and 711 pieces of ammunition were neutralized.
