According to CNBC, the day before the decision to resign, members of the House committee criticized Cheadle over the actions of the Secret Service on the eve of the rally where Trump was assassinated.
Also , House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer said that Cheadle's resignation does not negate the committee's demand for "greater accountability" of the Secret Service.
According to him, a full analysis of how the security failures occurred is needed so that they can be prevented in the future.
