Germany arrests suspected of supporting Russian hacker group

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested in Schleswig-Holstein for supporting the Russian hacker group KillNET. He advertised services for cyberattacks on NATO facilities and helped sabotage security and infrastructure websites.

According to the investigation, the group's goals included cyber sabotage against NATO countries. The attackers stole data and damaged Internet resources.

Investigators in Schleswig-Holstein have arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly supported the Russian hacker group KillNET, the state criminal police office said. KillNET is considered a supporter of Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine.

The defendant is charged with  computer sabotage. He reportedly advertised various criminal services to different groups through a messaging service that could be used to carry out such attacks quickly and without much technical knowledge.

He also deliberately advertised his services within the hacker collective, thereby enabling nationwide attacks on websites in the security, infrastructure, and financial sectors.

Investigators searched the suspect's home in Schleswig-Holstein and confiscated a number of data storage devices. The investigation will continue on their basis.

UNN also reported that a 57-year-old Russian citizen is accused of killing two disabled Ukrainian soldiers in the Bavarian city of Murnau. The incident occurred after a dispute about the war in Ukraine, when the suspect attacked them with a knife.
