Food exports from Ukraine in the first half of the year reached $12.4 billion. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting, UNN reports.

The agricultural sector remains one of the key sectors of the Ukrainian economy. In the first half of the year, Ukraine's food exports amounted to $12.4 billion. The agricultural sector provides tens of thousands of jobs. These are investments for development and taxes for the sustainability of the state

- Shmyhal said.

He noted that today the government supports farmers in three key areas: grants, compensation and soft loans; assistance with logistics; and humanitarian demining.

As part of the eRobota program, we have launched grants to create new gardens and greenhouses. Almost UAH 1 billion of such grants have already been paid out. We have planted 2.7 thousand hectares of new gardens. 70 hectares of new greenhouses have been laid

- Shmyhal added.

According to him, the government has expanded the list of regions for planting cherries, peaches and apricots, and is also expanding opportunities for planting vineyards.

We are adding the possibility for winemakers to use grants to plant their own vineyards. At the same time, we are removing the condition that vineyards must be planted with an irrigation system

- the Prime Minister added.
