The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed the crash of a military Il-76, which crashed while taking off from an airfield in the Ivanovo region for a scheduled flight.

There were eight crew members and seven passengers on board. All of them died, five bodies have already been found at the crash site, and the rest were inside the plane, which continues to burn.

The cause of the crash was a fire in one of the engines during takeoff, which was preliminarily caused by a technical malfunction. It is reported that smoke appeared in the engine immediately after liftoff, then the engine caught fire and part of it fell off in the air. The plane attempted to return to the airfield, but fell short and crashed in a forested area a couple of kilometers from the takeoff site.
