The EU will soon provide Ukraine with the last 1.5 billion euros for 2023 under the macro-financial assistance program, as confirmed by EC President Ursula von der Leyen.

The European Commission will soon provide Ukraine with another 1.5 billion euros under the macro-financial assistance program for 2023. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference following the EU summit in Brussels on Friday, UNN reports.

"In the coming days we will release the last 1.5 billion euros for Ukraine for this year that have been agreed in so called MFA - macro-financial assistance - for 2023. So there is a disbursement in the next days of 1.5 billion," von der Leyen said.

According to her, this will support Ukraine's budget early next year.

At the same time, the European Commission President said that while she hopes a solution will be found, work on alternative plans should begin now to ensure that Ukraine has sufficient funding. 

"I think it is now also necessary to work on potential alternatives to have an operational solution in case an agreement at 27 - so, unanimity - is not possible," she said.
