The European Council has extended restrictive measures against Iran until July 27, 2025, due to Iran's military support for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and armed groups in the Middle East and the Red Sea region.

It is noted that the sanctions regime currently applies to 12 individuals and 9 legal entities.

It is reported that the assets of these persons are frozen, and the provision of funds or economic resources to them, directly or indirectly, is prohibited. In addition, the individuals on the list are subject to a travel ban to the EU.

In its conclusions of March 21 and 22, 2024, the European Council called on third parties, including Iran, to immediately cease material support for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.

In its conclusions of April 17 and 18, 2024, the European Council reaffirmed its commitment to further restrictive measures against Iran, in particular on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles. Finally, the European Council reaffirmed that the EU remains fully committed to promoting de-escalation and security in the region.
