Estonia provided Ukraine with defense support for 542 million euros, which is 1.4% of the country's GDP. Over the next three years, Estonia will allocate 0.25% of its GDP annually to support Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Estonia has provided Ukraine with defense support in the amount of 542 million euros, which is 1.4% of the country's GDP. Over the next three years, Estonia will provide Ukraine with 0.25% of its GDP, which is 100 million euros.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and Prime Minister of Estonia Kristen Michal at a joint briefing, reports UNN.

Details

I am grateful for the large-scale defense support from Estonia, which already reaches almost 542 million euros or 1.4% of the country's GDP. Estonia's decision to allocate at least 0.25% of its GDP annually for the defense of Ukraine was significant. Thank you to the Government of Christian Michal for continuing this initiative

Shmygal said.

At the same time, Michal noted that providing 0.25% of the country's GDP for military support of Ukraine for 3 years is "our commitment."

This will mean that Ukraine will receive 100 million euros annually from us. We want to emphasize that we are trying to push our partners and allies to do the same. We will discuss this not only with them, but also with representatives of the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, the Baltic states and the Scandinavian countries, who will meet next week at the summit

Michal said.

He also said that the EU initiative to supply Ukraine with 1 million shells has already been implemented, but, according to him, this is not enough.

We understand that European and other partners should strengthen their defense capabilities in production

Michal added.
