Ukraine can import up to 1,700 MW of electricity, but actual imports fluctuate daily and are sometimes lower due to limited emergency assistance from neighboring countries during peak hours.

The maximum level of electricity imports that Ukraine can use is 1700 MW, but this volume is not always achieved on a daily basis. This was announced by Yuriy Boyko, a member of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo, on Suspilne TV, UNN reports.

"The maximum level of imports we can use is 1700 MW. Not every day we import the maximum amount of electricity. In recent days, this volume has decreased. But NPC Ukrenergo is reaching this maximum level by attracting emergency assistance from our neighbors, activating the relevant requests," says Boyko.

He explains that imports are a guaranteed flow of electricity, and the emergency assistance requested by NPC from adjacent system operators is provided only if it is possible to provide such assistance.

"Our neighbors have similar weather, similar temperatures, and similar increases in the load in the power system. Therefore, they cannot always provide us with such assistance. During peak hours, electricity imports to Ukraine are close to 1,700 MW," he added.

Ruslan Slobodian, head of the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision of Ukraine, said that if a consumer sees in the schedule that they should have electricity, but it has not been turned on, they should notify their distribution system operator to find out why.
