In Bulgaria, due to an abnormally low water level in the Danube, mammoth bones that had remained at the bottom of the river for a long time have been discovered. The find was made near the village of Ryagovo after the water receded due to drought, reports Yle, writes UNN.

The bones were accidentally found by a local resident who was walking along the banks of the Danube. After this, specialists arrived at the site and confirmed that the remains belong to a mammoth.
According to experts, among the found remains are part of a femur, a lower jaw, tusks, and dozens of individual bone fragments.
Thousands of years ago, mammoths inhabited a significant part of the Danube basin. Similar paleontological finds have previously been discovered in other areas of the Danube region.
