In Kyiv, as a result of missile and drone attacks by the Russian military on May 24, there is significant destruction; the number of casualties as of this hour, according to information from the State Emergency Service, has increased to 81 people.  UNN reports on how the capital of Ukraine suffered from one of the most destructive attacks since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Pecherskyi District

Here, the building of the Kyiv Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine sustained damage from a powerful enemy attack. It is located at Muzeinyi Lane. Double-glazed windows were blown out in the premises, and decorative plastic ceiling tiles fell down.

Shevchenkivskyi District

Destructive consequences were recorded for building No. 2 of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service, located at Anton Tsedik St. Here, the blast wave damaged the double-glazed windows. None of the students, teachers, or support staff were injured. They promise to restore the building in the near future.

In addition, the occupiers damaged the building of the Kyiv School of Economics (Mykola Shpak St.). This was reported on the X social network by KSE President Tymofiy Mylovanov.

Also, on the night of May 24, the St. Thomas Aquinas Institute of Religious Sciences (Derevlyanska St.) was affected. As reported by the former rector of the institute, Yaroslav Kravets, at 4:00 AM, a missile destroyed a house located near the institution and the monastery. The blast wave blew out windows and damaged doors.

In our monastery, many windows and doors were blown out and damaged. Our cells—the rooms where we live—the chapel, the assembly hall, and the classrooms of the St. Thomas Aquinas Institute were affected

- Kravets wrote.

The Ukrainian House (Khreshchatyk Street) also came under the missile and drone strike. There, the blast wave shattered part of the facade windows. During the attack, the staff on duty went down to the shelter and were therefore not injured. All stock collections also remained intact.

The night shelling did not bypass the Bureau of Economic Security either.  The blast wave blew out almost all the windows and damaged the premises.

Podilskyi District

It was a difficult night for the Museum on Poshtova Square as well. There, missile fragments and the blast wave damaged its building. The Church of the Nativity of Christ also suffered destruction.

As a result of the attack, the Chernobyl Museum (Khoryva St.) was forced to suspend its operations. The space that preserves evidence of the 1986 accident came under fire. It should be noted that the cultural space had only recently begun accepting visitors again—just a month ago. Until then, restoration work had been carried out on its premises.

Reminder

Due to the night shelling by the Russian military, about 100 people were injured, and four people died. In Kyiv, 30 buildings were damaged.  Against this backdrop, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on ally countries to strengthen Ukrainian air defense.
