Bobby Rasidin, Director General of the state-owned company PT Kereta Api Indonesia, stated that as of Tuesday morning, 14 deaths have been confirmed, and the bodies of the deceased have been taken to hospitals for identification.
The accident occurred the previous day at the Bekasi Timur station near Jakarta, when a long-distance train crashed into the rear carriage of a stationary commuter train. At least 81 people were also injured as a result of the collision.
Rescue operations are ongoing — several passengers remain trapped in the damaged carriage.

According to law enforcement officials, the causes of the accident are being determined, and an investigation is being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Committee.
