The Government approved the implementation plan for the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine developed by the Ministry of Defense. The plan envisages strengthening defense capabilities, de-occupation of the coast, and restoration of maritime infrastructure.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved an implementation plan for the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine developed by the Defense Ministry. The document envisages strengthening the capacity of Ukraine's security and defense sector, de-occupation of the coastal areas and restoration of maritime infrastructure, saidUkrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, reports UNN

According to Umerov, the adoption of the plan is an important step towards strengthening the maritime security of our country.

The document aims to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks and goals set out in the Strategy, which was approved by the NSDC and enacted by a Presidential Decree.

According to Umerov, the main objectives of the plan are:

  • Strengthening the capacity of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, the Armed Forces Navy and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to counter aggression and respond to other threats to maritime security;
  • de-occupation of the temporarily occupied territories of the coast, inland waters and continental shelf of Ukraine;
  • obtaining compensation for losses caused by the aggressor and restoration of maritime and river infrastructure damaged as a result of the war.
