The UK is considering making chemical castration mandatory for sex offenders as part of a justice system reform aimed at freeing up more space in overcrowded prisons.
One of the first actions of the Labour government in July was to announce plans to release more prisoners early to address prison overcrowding, which ministers say threatens "the complete collapse of law and order".
