Borrell: EU Council to discuss security commitments to Ukraine at next meeting

The next meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council will focus on the EU's security commitments and proposals to strengthen the Ukrainian army after large-scale missile strikes by Russia.

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that at the next meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council they will discuss security commitments to Ukraine and strengthening the Defense Forces.  Borrell wrote about this in the social network X, according to UNN

Josep Borrell noted that Russia had launched the largest missile strike on Ukrainian cities in two months the day before. Therefore, according to him, it is necessary to strengthen Ukraine's armed forces, including air defense systems. 

At the next EU Council meeting, we will discuss the EU's security commitments, and proposals to increase our contribution to Ukraine's military capabilities will be on the table

The President's Office has launched the first round of consultations with the European Union on the EU's collective security guarantees.

The security guarantees for Ukraine include nine commitments from the European Union. These include assistance with military equipment, training of Ukrainian soldiers, and cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry.
