"Another reason why we want to avoid escalation is that it could disrupt the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. So an escalation in itself is bad, but it could also prevent [ceasefire negotiations] from being completed," he said at a press conference in Annapolis, near Washington.
In his opinion, "there is no reason why the deal should not be concluded soon.
"It's time for all parties to bring this case to a conclusion," he concluded.
